Five things on my mind tonight.
1.) I'm a tattoo artist.
Before she left for China, Ali and I were spending some time together. I said something about not being that artistic and Ali said, "You're actually very artistic. You just suppress it." I'm still not so convinced about that, but I suppose I can make pretty bird tattoos with a Sharpie. I never would have guessed.
Rebekah is always ready to volunteer for these things. Actually, she was the one who convinced me to attempt a "tattoo" on her leg, just for the fun of it. It turned out being better than we expected, since, like I said, I'm not that artistic.
2.) My grandma is having breast cancer surgery early tomorrow morning. Your prayers will be greatly appreciated.
3.) I'm still tweeting. I still like it so far. I haven't fully gotten down that whole hashtag business yet, although I'm kind of getting the hang of it. It's fun though. And guess what my page looks like today? Pretty birds.
Christian Relief Fund, where I work, also has a Twitter, but we don't have a whole lot of followers yet. Give us a hand and help raise awareness?
4.) This little girl impresses me so much. Her voice... her age... her talent.
5.) I have a shelf in my bedroom covered in things I brought home from Kenya, like a little wooden figurine of a lion I was given at a church service... and a stone elephant I bought at the market. And a tribal gourd a precious family gave to me and a friend in a remote village out in the bush.
I grinned. "It's a shrunken head I brought home from Africa."
"Oh no, Emily. Get rid of it. That's not okay to have."
"I love it."
And so there it still hangs.
The question is, was I telling the truth? You can decide for yourself.
...I miss Ali tonight. It's been several days since she left. We went from spending every summer night together to nothing at all, not Facebook, not phone calls, nothing. It's a little sad.
