Does Child Sponsorship Work?

Today I will talk to you about child sponsorship. This is one of the biggest parts of my job. I oversee the sponsorship of around 3,500 kids. Now—and I get a lot of questions from people who wonder if child sponsorship actually reaches children and if it makes any kind of tangible impact. 

CRF focuses on 4 pillars when it comes to what sponsorship provides, and these are taken from the example of Jesus in Luke 2:52. “Jesus grew in wisdom and in stature, and in favor with God and man.” So our goal is to meet the educational, physical, spiritual, and social needs of a child. 

When you sponsor a child through Christian Relief Fund, you provide nutritious daily food, basic medical care, clothing, education, and teachings about the Gospel. 

A sponsored child is brought from extreme poverty into hope. Instead of giving handouts, sponsors are equipping students to complete their education and become family providers and community leaders. 

Larger organizations with similar sponsorship structures like Compassion have had researchers evaluate the impact that sponsorship makes on communities. The results are huge. Sponsored children stay in school longer, have a much higher chance of going to high school and university, have better chances of employment as adults, and they are up to 70% more likely to become church leaders as adults.
