Immodest Trends: Jeans
Posted by Girls Only, Modesty and Style, Series
| Filed underGoing on my jeans topic from earlier this week, I'd like to talk about some immodest jeans that you should try to avoid at all costs. I am all for girls wearing jeans and pants -in other words, not wearing skirts and dresses all the time- so long as we're careful to dress modestly and appropriately. We want to be good examples by the way we dress.
Skinny Jeans
These jeans have been in style for a while now. They're now often considered to be the "nice" style of jeans, rather than casual. However, skinny jeans often cling to your figure and show off your legs and rear end too much to be modest. Even though they cover up, they display too much of your figure, which makes your outfit immodest. Straight-legged jeans are a good counterpart for skinny jeans. They're fairly form-fitting without being too clingy. If you're wearing a short dress or long shirt that covers your behind and part of your thighs, I'd say it was okay to wear skinny jeans, so long as they aren't super skinny.
Ripped Jeans
Unfortunately, I've heard that ripped jeans are going to be in style this year. I even read that it doesn't matter what type of jeans you wear- harem, boyfriend, skinny, etc- so long as they have holes in them, and the bigger, the better. Unfortunately, ripped jeans are immodest because they show too much skin, especially when they're located around the upper thighs. Ripped jeans below the knee are better, in my opinion, although I count them about the same as a pair of shorts. (Not very warm in the winter!) A good counterpart for ripped jeans is frayed jeans. They have the similar style, but they don't show skin.
Jeggings
Personally, I don't understand why jeggings are so popular right now. They aren't even attractive. If you have an ounce of fat on your body, it will show when you're wearing a pair of jeggings. Even if you're a naturally slender person, you will often look unattractive in jeggings. In case you don't know what jeggings are, they're basically a mixture between jeans and leggings- denim leggings or leggings that are printed to look like denim. You wear them in place of normal jeans. They're super, super, super skinny jeans. To the extreme. I find them quite ugly. I suppose a pair of jeggings would be okay if you wear them under a dress or skirt with a pair of tall boots- basically showing as little of the jeggings as humanly possible- but otherwise, stay far, far away from this fashion trend!
What do you think about these immodest fashion trends I mentioned above? Do you wear ripped jeans, jeggings, or skinny jeans? Has my article changed your mind about any of these styles? Is there a style of immodest jeans I forgot to mention?

oh my gosh i can't STANDDDDD jeggings! like who even decided to invent the tightest "jeans" known to man!!! might as well pants a demin blue color on your legs and say "I'M WEARING PANTS!"
this didn't change my opinion of jeans. modesty is so important but i don't necessarily agree with all of this.
not looking to pick a fight, just my opinion...
I am a 14 year old girl and I'm sorry but I can't live without skinny jeans. I hate the baggy flare look or anything else but my favorite skinnys. I don't get them so tight that they are "immodest" they show shape. And jeggings... I had some but my Mom made me give them to her cause they were too tight. I agree. unless you aren't showing your bum or upper thighs. But skinny jeans are, in my opinion, perfectly fine.
agreed. skinny jeans are fine. in my opinion this is just a preference. some things are straight up immodest and others are debatable. jeans are definitely debatable.
what do you think emily?
Thanks for sharing your opinion, girls. :) In my opinion, skinny jeans are more debatable when it comes to modesty than jeggings are, but when you wear them, you are walking a fine line between modest and immodest. Just make sure that they don't hug your figure too much that they will distract the boys around you. :)
I agree with you Emily, I think that skinny jeans are immodest most of the time.
@14 yr old girl:
Don't worry if you can't live without skinny jeans. You're showing maturity and reasoning by _deciding_ that they are ok to wear. In fact, step back a bit and consider - why are you apologizing to the readers and writer of this page for what you decide to wear? Don't allow other people to make your choices for you. Always question the advice of other people (that includes this advice) because, even _if_ their intentions are selfless, what works for them might not be the best way for you. Don't fear changing, and trying, and thinking.
