Modest Trends: Prom Dresses (Part 2)
Posted by Girls Only, Modesty and Style
| Filed underToday I'll give some examples of modest halters and necklines of your prom dresses. There are a lot of low-dipping necklines when you look for prom dresses, and while you can easily use a cami or shawl to cover your bared skin, sometimes it's just easiest to find a modest neckline, especially when you're planning to dance in your dress.
Halter Top
These are coming back into style this year for the first time in a while, but you should be able to find them in a lot of different locations. Personally, I think they're very pretty and flattering. These dresses are a great way to cover up cleavage.
When you wear a halter top prom dress, you don't even have to search and search for the right necklace... although you may spend that time looking for pretty bracelets or earrings instead.
I love the color of this pretty blue dress.
One Shoulder
I haven't always been a huge fan of the one shoulder style, but the more I've thought about it, the more I've realized that one shoulder dresses are more modest than strapless dresses, so I figured I would go ahead and feature them on the modest trends page.
When you wear a one shoulder strap, be sure that the strapless side of your dress still comes up high enough that you won't show too much skin. I think the dress to your right is modest and stylish. I like the way the strap is tied into a bow on the shoulder.
With Straps
For some reason, when I see a prom dress with straps, even if they're spaghetti straps, I feel like the dress is a little more modest than a sleeveless dress. You may feel the same way. You can get a cute spaghetti strap dress like the one to your left... or a dress with a little thicker straps like the one to your right.
Black and white polka dots are my thing, so I love the look of the dress to your right. I would wear it to prom. I think it's super cute. I also love the color of the fuschia dress to your left.
With Sleeves
If you feel uncomfortable about showing your shoulders at all and you don't want to have to worry about a jacket or shawl, consider purchasing a dress with sleeves. I don't think these dresses look dorky at all. They're still cute and quite fashionable.
I love the color and embellishments on this pretty purple dress. I actually found a link for this specific one. You can find it here, but unfortunately it's a bit pricey at $350.
If the cost of this dress is too much for you, there are similar styles online for cheaper prices.

I would have to say that the dress with sleaves is my favorite because I would never even consider wering one with either of my shoulders showing.
Aw, My favourate is the fuschia spaghetti strap dress. I love the wide band around the waist! I am seriously considering finding one similar to wear to prom:) Thanks so much!
Sincerely-
Suzanna (former Susie Sis)
Oh! And your song.. ummm it has a shorter title, but I can't remember it...the "we drink our coffee while Jesus Cries" really spoke to my heart about everyday apathy! Don't stop doing what you're doing!
I love the halter top one :) SO pretty :D
I like the one with sleeves the best. It's gorgeous! And if I were still in highschool, I'd be tempted to get it. ;)
PS. I found the link to your blog off of the Rebelution forums and I've been reading it for a little while. Keep up the good work!
Today I saw a cute Muslim teenage girl with a hijab on. At first I just looked away and didn't think about it until I remembered your experiment. Then I turned and smiled at her. She looked surprised and then smiled back at me. I left feeling so good!
Jessa,
Yay, that made me smile too! :)
