Highlights: The Missional Movement, Feminine Christianity, and DuckDynasty

Every couple of weeks, I like to share my favorite moments from social media.

And Then the Conference Uninvited Me to Speak by Jen Hatmaker
So if it wasn’t Jesus making enemies out of the adopted, it had to be the structure in which we contained Him. This was the point my ministry took a hard left. If you’ve been around me at all in the last six years, you’ve heard me pushing for reform, asking the church to stretch, to become the new wineskins my generation is begging for. I’m hungry for a church less known for sanctimony and more for their shocking intervention for hungry babies and human trafficking and racism and injustice.
Reclaiming Feminine Christianity by TE Hanna
Jesus also depicts the Father in the feminine.  In the Gospel of Luke, he teaches us how the Father is like a woman looking for a lost coin, earnestly seeking after us (Luke 15:8).  In referring to his own love for us, Jesus characterizes this, too, as a female attribute.  Lamenting over Jerusalem, he likens himself to a mother hen, yearning to gather his children under wing (Matthew 23:37).  Thus we see critical aspects of God's character - that God is wise, that God seeks us out, that God loves and nurtures us - as attributes of the feminine.  This does not mean, of course, that we are to turn and strip God of his masculine attributes.  He is still King, He is still Father, and He is still Lord.  It does mean, however, that when we begin to define God solely through masculine constructs we lose something integral.
Why the Missional Movement Will Fail by Mike Breen
If you make disciples, you will always get the church. But if you try to build the church, you will rarely get disciples. ...God did not design us to do Kingdom mission outside of the scope of intentional, biblical discipleship and if we don’t see that, we’re fooling ourselves.
More Duck Dynasty Conversation

If you aren't yet exhausted from seeing Duck Dynasty everywhere and you'd like to read more, here are a few of my favorite articles over the subject:

And one status about the issue that made me both chuckle and think:

With that, I may be finished talking about the Duck Dynasty fiasco for a very, very long time.
