Just Grateful

I'm starting a new "thing". Who knows how long it will last, like any of my "things," but it will be fun for now. At the end of every month, I would like to post a survey of five questions. I will share a little bit about myself through these lists of questions and I would love if you answered t too, either in the comments or on your own blog. Let's get to know each other a little better.

If you had to be famous, for what reason would you choose?

I think being famous would be truly awful. I can't imagine the pressure that would go along with true fame. However, if I had to be famous, I would hope that it would be as a writer.

For one reason, if your top 10 famous authors walked by, how many of them would you actually recognize? Writers are usually better known for their works of art than for closely-examined personal lives. As a writer, I would probably enjoy for my art to be recognized or studied in schools... and best yet I hopefully wouldn't have as many rabid fans as in some professions.

What would constitute your favorite day?

I think my favorite day would either be exploring a new culture, such as a day on a mountain in Kenya or a day exploring a village in Switzerland.

My favorite day in Texas would probably be a few hours getting coffee with a couple of friends, having dinner with my family at my favorite restaurant, and then spending the rest of the day reading a good book and writing with absolutely no writer's block at all.

When did you last sing out loud? What song?

I last sang Counting Stars by OneRepublic when I was driving home from work in my car.

(Warning: I have not watched this music video, so I cannot say whether or not it contains all appropriate content.)

For what in your life do you feel the most grateful?

I'm grateful that no matter how broken, scatter-brained, selfish, doubtful, and self-pitying I can be, that Jesus died for me. He was nailed to a cross to take my place. And no matter how messed up I am, His grace is that much bigger. Gratefulness doesn't even begin to describe the awe I have for what He has done.

What is the greatest accomplishment of your life?

I'm young, and there aren't a lot of accomplishments I can sit back and point to with pride, such as, "I've graduated from university" or "I published a best-selling novel," although perhaps one day those will be realities for me.

For now, my greatest accomplishment may be the fact that I've written a novel. Or that I'm well-traveled and have been able to gain a global mindset. I'm not sure yet, but it's certainly something to think about.

Answer these questions in the comments or on your own blog (and send me a link). I would love to know your answers.
