Orphan Sunday: Clarice

The first Sunday of the month, I advocate for an orphan with special needs who is waiting for a family.  Please consider supporting this child by committing to pray for them, sharing their story, or donating to their adoption fund through Reece's Rainbow.

Clarice is a ray of sunshine to everyone who meets her.

Her biological mother abused multiple substances while pregnant with Clarice. This precious girl has Down Syndrome, but she likely also has Fetal Alcohol Syndrome.  However, these serious medical problems do not keep her from smiling, laughing, and bringing joy to those around her.

Even though Clarice is almost fifteen years old, she is the size of a small six-year-old. She has lived almost her entire life in an institutional setting, under the care of stern nannies. Clarice has never had a father or mother figure in her life, so she will need to learn how to receive positive attention.

Clarice is described as sweet-natured, strong, and curious. She is capable of obedience, can walk, and enjoys playing with stimulating toys.

She has some major special needs that a family would be prepared in advance to handle, but this precious girl is worth any effort.

In a matter of possibly even months, Clarice will be transferred to an adult institution. A quote about this location is: "most children live for only one year at most once transferred."

Please keep sweet Clarice in your prayers and consider donating to her adoption fund. This child has not been forgotten.

  1. What a wonderful post and thoughtful post! I have a brother with special needs, so I can understand some of the difficulties she faces. I'll keep her in my prayers!
