All You Had to Do Was Stay

What is the first thing you notice about people?
In terms of physical features, I think I first notice people's hair or their smiles. I love eyes and how everyone's eye color is different, but I'm shy enough that I don't always meet the eye of those I encounter for the first time.

In terms of personality, what catches my attention the most quickly is if someone exhibits a natural friendliness or kindness towards the people around them.

What I never notice about people is their height. I'm unusually short, so when someone asks me to guess how tall someone is, I can never guess in an even remotely accurate way because everyone towers over me. Just the other day, one of my friends asked me to describe someone and I said he was tall. "How tall? Bob's height or taller?" And I had no idea. Even though one of my guy friends was significantly taller than the other, they are both skyscrapers in my eyes.

What do you miss the most?
Right now, I miss my hometown. I've been able to see my parents several times this semester, which has helped with my homesickness, but I have been far away from grandparents, my home, my family's pets, and the feeling of stability that is displaced a little when you leave for college. In a few weeks, I'll get to go back to my hometown for an entire month and I'm looking forward to that month.

Also, I am aching to return to my family in Kenya.

What song are you listening to right now?
I unashamedly love Taylor Swift's newest album: 1989. She's got some great songs on there. This is one of my favorites on the album: All You Had to Do Was Stay by Taylor Swift

What is your favorite scent?
My favorite scent is the earthy smell that lingers outside when it's raining. My favorite marketable scent always changes. I like almost everything from Bath & Bodyworks, and I absolutely love the smell of lavender.

What is the last movie you watched?
I'm actually writing this a couple of weeks in advance, because NaNoWriMo has consumed my life recently. However, I already know the last movie I watched. Mockingjay. I probably have watched it more than once in theaters by the time this archived post is published. Suzanne Collins is my hero.
