She is still alive today, although she is elderly now. Boo is a 12-year-old Boston Terrier who has been in my life since I was ten years old. She has been gentle, loving, loyal, and sweet for as long as she has been alive.

What is the worst pet you ever had?
When I was six, my parents allowed me to purchase a little black dwarf hamster that I promptly named Blackie. Well, Blackie was a wicked creature who bit me and made my six-year-old finger bleed. At some point, he died and gave Child Emily her first glimpse at Death.
Have you ever made it into the newspaper or on TV?
I have! A few times, mostly for random reasons. I made the senior student highlight in the newspaper once for being a "good friend." Once I wrote an article for the newspaper reminding Christians to love gay people. A couple of articles and an interview were published when I was in 8th grade and won an award for the science fair... that led to me being published in the Journal of Human Lactation. No joke.
What is the worst physical pain you have ever felt?
A couple of years ago, I fell off my longboard and was knocked out. I accumulated a variety of minor injuries because of that fall, including a concussion, but the extreme soreness I felt those first few days after the accident was the worst pain I've felt. Not nearly as bad as what some people have experienced, but I definitely had trouble staying out of bed for those three or four days.
What is one thing that should be taught in school that isn't already?
I wish that public schools taught more about world religions. So many of my friends who grew up going to public school know almost nothing about religions other than Christianity, and I personally think it's important to make ourselves aware about the perspectives of people from different cultures. As a Christian, I believe it's meaningful to share the Gospel with someone knowing a little bit about the lens with which they view the world, and religion plays a large part in that.
