I adore Lorde's single for the Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part I soundtrack. I've never gotten into Lorde's musical style until now, but Yellow Flicker Beat captures the emotion of Mockingjay so well, I fell in love with it.
Talk about something that happened in preschool.
I was homeschooled until fifth grade, so most of my elementary and preschool memories blur together. However, I have distinct memories of a time before I was able to read. This was probably before preschool, but I can remember staring at a picture book about Bambi. I loved the way the letters looked on the page, even though they didn't mean anything to me at the time. I would stare at the pictures and then at the squiggles the letters made on the page and make up stories of my own. I've always loved reading, even before I could actually read.
What is your favorite movie soundtrack?I have a few! When I study or write, I love to listen to the score for Catching Fire. It's intense enough that it makes me somehow feel productive, but it's soft enough that I don't have to focus directly on the music. I also like the Harry Potter and Pirates of the Caribbean scores, the Sweeney Todd soundtrack, and let's be honest: any animated Disney film has a great soundtrack.
What is the last good thing that happened?
With the grace of God, so many good things happen! (That's totally a cliche thing to say, but it's true.) One of the most recent awesome moments was going to an Elvis Presley exhibit when my mom was visiting in my university town. I have a big crush on Elvis. The library even gave me a free Elvis fan. It was great.
Get the closest book next to you, open it to page 42, what’s the first line on that page?
