Modest Trend: Long Dresses

Don't get me wrong: short dresses are very much "in" as well, but long, flowing dresses are also in style, so long as you wear them the right way.  Long, flowing dresses and skirts should be either in bright colors and exotic prints or more natural, earthy colors.  When you wear these long dresses, try to even them out with natural-looking makeup, tribal bangles, or very simple jewelry.

The great thing about long dresses is that they don't show off so much of your legs and thighs like the mini-dresses do.  However, you must be careful about how much they show up top, because you don't want to buy a dress that is only modest from the waist down.  Be careful about how low the dress is cut, and if you are uncomfortable showing off your bare shoulders and arms, then you may have a difficult time finding a long dress this time of year.

If you find yourself in the perplexing situation of wanting to purchase a long dress that dips too low or shows too much shoulder, then you can possibly purchase a tank top to wear underneath, or a lightweight pullover jacket that covers your shoulders.

Here are some examples of long, modest dresses:

Modest Spring Trend: Scarves

Can you believe it?  Scarves are still in.  What's nice about scarves is that they cover up a lot, and you can hide shirts that "dip" with the long, flowing fabric of the scarf, and stay modest the whole time.

The scarves that are "in" right now are not woolly and wintery, but instead thin and lightweight.  You will find them either in more pastel, springy colors with light patterns, or in brighter, more exotic patterns.  You can also cover your shoulders with these modest scarves when you wear them over tank tops and summer dresses.

Check out some of these great examples of cute, spring scarves:
