Snowfall... literally.

Today we shall finally get to read my snow post that I had planned to write yesterday.  Hooray.

So... yesterday, I woke up with unnatural happiness to be up early and going to church.  Usually, I feel kind of bummed out that I have to hear my alarm clock wake me up on a weekend, but on this particular morning, it wasn't so bad.  I bounced downstairs, smiling contentedly to myself...

-Now let me add a quick segment here.  My house is split into two parts, meaning that there are two completely unconnected second floors, and I live alone in one of those second floors.  I have a separate set of stairs, and at the bottom of thosestairs, a few feet away, is a door with a window on it that looks out onto some of our land.-

...I bounced downstairs, smiling contentedly to myself, and then I stopped short.  My mouth was literally hanging open.  The ground was covered in a white cloak of snow, and more dreadful snowflakes were falling to the ground as I stared outside with horror.  Snow and I are complete and total enemies.  I do not like snow and it does not like me.  End of story.  When I move away after I graduate, the perfect place for me would be somewhere like Houston, or Arizona, or Africa... somewhere nice and hot.

The snow was quite unexpected, as we had fairly nice weather the day before... in the seventies, or sixties at least.  But then it snowed.  That is the Texas Panhandle weather for you.  You never know what to expect.

So my dad is a completely obsessed Dallas Cowboys fan.  He has a full-fledged DCB outfit- shoes, shorts, shirt, cap, etc.  Even his license plate has a DCB star on it.  So of course he went out and bought a Tony Romo lighted yard decoration to celebrate the Christmas season.

Now, my house is on a rather tall hill, and the wind tends to get kind of bad.  On the way to church, as we backed out of the driveway, I noticed something peculiar.  While I was shivering in the backseat of my dad's Cowboy blue pickup truck (not even kidding), I realized that the Tony Romo light decoration had been completely covered in snow.  In other words, the terrible wind had blown the snow from the air onto the entire decoration until it was completely covered.  For some reason, I thought that was funny and amusing, so I decided to take a picture of it.

Upon arrival to the house, I snatched my camera from my purse, shrugged into my hoodie, and stepped out onto the front porch, hearing the snow crunch beneath my feet.  I took about five steps, and then wham!  I fell down hard onto the icy concrete.

PictureI gasped with shock as I sat there for several long moments, too stunned to move.  My hands were buried to the elbows in snow.  I stubbornly hobbled back to my feet and took the stupid photo, so there you have it, right above this paragraph.  It wasn't until I had arrived back in my room and was uploading my Romo shot onto my laptop until I noticed that I had taken a photo by accident when I fell.  So here it is.

I am quite sore today, and have trouble coherently explaining to people why I wince every time I sit down in a chair.

So that's my embarrassing story of the week... and also a good reason why I don't like snow: snow doesn't like me either.

Let's change my face up a little...

Picture
the BEFORE picture.
Picture
Chace Crawford's (and my) baby
Do you know an addicting website?  How about MorphThing.com?  It is a place where you can morph a picture of yourself with a picture of a celebrity (or a family member, if you so wish), and it creates astonishingly "real"-looking images of who you might look like if you were part whoever.  You can also mix with people to see what your child will look like, but that isn't nearly as fascinating, in my opinion.

Picture
me and Britney Spears
I'm not sure what it is about this website that is so addicting.  Why do we want to spend forever mixing our faces with those of beautiful celebrities?  Is it because we all wonder what we would look like as an "idol," as someone as adored and celebrated as Angelina Jolie or Britney Spears?  Do we all want to catch a glimpse of what we might look like if we were someone else?

Picture
me and Obama
I'm really not sure.  I know that part of it is the comedy factor.  I mean, who doesn't want to see what your child would look like if you married Chewbacca, or what you would look like as Gollum or President Obama?  This website is a give in if you want to have a thousand laughs... best if you mess around with it in a room full of happy people.

Picture
me and Scarlett Johansson
But beware, when playing with MorphThing.com, you may feel a slight insignificance... looking at your transformation and feeling that a mixture of you and Scarlett Johansson just makes for an uglier picture... because the real Scarlett is so much prettier than you could ever be.

I don't know what is so fascinating about morphing my face with a celebrity's.  Maybe I'm just morbidly curious.  Maybe I'm dissatisfied.  Maybe I don't know.  Take a look for yourself.  What do you think?
