Fun Trends: Hairstyles

What are the popular hairstyles for this winter?  Fun, semi-messy, and playful are all in this year.  Another benefit to this year's styles: casual.  This means that our hairstyles won't take quite as long to create.  I'll mention a few below.

Messy Bun 1.jpgThe Messy Bun
The messy bun is basically a loose bun tied at the back of your head.  Strands should be hanging out, some even poking out from the actual bun.  In my opinion, this look is extra cute if you have curls that hang around your face.  This is a very easy look, no matter what your hair type... and it can be pulled off in only a few minutes.  Take a look at Vanessa Hudgens' adorable messy bun to your right.

Loose waves.jpgLoose Waves
Beachy waves, morning waves, or straightener-created waves, loose waves are in.  Look at this picture of Kate Hudson for a celebrity example.  Loose waves are easy for my hair type, but they can be created with scrunching gels, wearing braids overnight, or with a straightening iron.

Bouncy Curls.jpgCurls
Bouncy, loose, and spiral curls are all in and cute right now.  I find them adorable.  Be careful not to make your curls too tight.  Loose and even borderline wavy is preferable.  Look at Beyonce's cute curls.

Braid 1.jpgRandom Braids
I personally can't braid hair for the life of me, but if you have a talent for braiding, then braids are in.  French braid your bangs.  Add a few braids into a messy bun or a ponytail.  Wear a casual french braid at the back of your head.  Whatever you do, cute, twisty braids are in.  I'm loving Drew Barrymore's adorable braid.

What's your favorite fun hairstyle?

Immodest Trends: Jeans

Going on my jeans topic from earlier this week, I'd like to talk about some immodest jeans that you should try to avoid at all costs.  I am all for girls wearing jeans and pants -in other words, not wearing skirts and dresses all the time- so long as we're careful to dress modestly and appropriately.  We want to be good examples by the way we dress.

Skinny Jeans
Skinny Jeans.jpgSkinny Jeans 2.jpgThese jeans have been in style for a while now.  They're now often considered to be the "nice" style of jeans, rather than casual.  However, skinny jeans often cling to your figure and show off your legs and rear end too much to be modest.  Even though they cover up, they display too much of your figure, which makes your outfit immodest.  Straight-legged jeans are a good counterpart for skinny jeans.  They're fairly form-fitting without being too clingy.  If you're wearing a short dress or long shirt that covers your behind and part of your thighs, I'd say it was okay to wear skinny jeans, so long as they aren't super skinny.

Ripped Jeans
Holy Jeans.jpgFrayed Jeans.jpgUnfortunately, I've heard that ripped jeans are going to be in style this year.  I even read that it doesn't matter what type of jeans you wear- harem, boyfriend, skinny, etc- so long as they have holes in them, and the bigger, the better.  Unfortunately, ripped jeans are immodest because they show too much skin, especially when they're located around the upper thighs.  Ripped jeans below the knee are better, in my opinion, although I count them about the same as a pair of shorts. (Not very warm in the winter!)  A good counterpart for ripped jeans is frayed jeans.  They have the similar style, but they don't show skin.

Jeggings
Jeggings.jpgPersonally, I don't understand why jeggings are so popular right now.  They aren't even attractive.  If you have an ounce of fat on your body, it will show when you're wearing a pair of jeggings.  Even if you're a naturally slender person, you will often look unattractive in jeggings.  In case you don't know what jeggings are, they're basically a mixture between jeans and leggings- denim leggings or leggings that are printed to look like denim.  You wear them in place of normal jeans.  They're super, super, super skinny jeans.  To the extreme.  I find them quite ugly.  I suppose a pair of jeggings would be okay if you wear them under a dress or skirt with a pair of tall boots- basically showing as little of the jeggings as humanly possible- but otherwise, stay far, far away from this fashion trend!

What do you think about these immodest fashion trends I mentioned above?  Do you wear ripped jeans, jeggings, or skinny jeans?  Has my article changed your mind about any of these styles?  Is there a style of immodest jeans I forgot to mention?
